A metaphor has increasingly been coming to me over the last few days. That is of the river and more particularly white-water rafting down a river. I don’t know if you have ever done it, but it is an exhilarating, scary, cathartic experience. The first time I did it was on the mighty Zambezi just below Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
Here’s how it works: you get prepared as best you can and make sure that your kit stays dry and buoyant for when you invariably get tipped over. You trust the Rapids and the river guide as best you can, but you never know how it’s going to end up. The river beautifully produces all her moods expressions and emotions from the wild white-water to the calm peaceful eddies and pools.
I say her, because as someone recently said using the analogy of a river is that the riverbanks but the masculine energy and the river itself is the feminine energy. Both need each other. If there are no banks the water spills everywhere if the river runs dry there is no journeying.
The interesting thing is that when you start you can’t go back you have to keep going down the river until the end when you will get picked up. You can stop and get out but invariably you must walk a long way or climb steep cliffs if you are lucky or else hire a helicopter if you are not and that is going to cost you a good few $1000. If you are in the middle of nowhere in the barren wastelands you may have to wait a long, long time.
So, the deal is in life jump in, stay committed and stay for the ride the other good analogy is a roller coaster ride but with that one you simply cannot get out!
If this message with resonates you and you feel something of a cold courage or to explore new pastures and have new experiences, then why don’t you come along to one of my naked speaker events? I am beginning to branch out into various areas which I will keep you informed about, but some of them are: dating for the Middle Ages, a weekend make it retreat and let the atoms collide experience.
