Public Speaking Anxiety

In this blog post, I’ll share a conversation I had with my friend Charlie, who struggles with public speaking anxiety. I’ll also share some tips on how to overcome this common fear. The fear of public speaking.

The fear of public speaking is one of the most common phobias in the world. It’s estimated that 75% of the population experiences some degree of anxiety when speaking in front of a group.

There are many reasons why people fear public speaking. Some people worry about being judged or evaluated by others. Others worry about forgetting what they want to say or making a mistake. Still others worry about having a physical reaction, such as sweating, shaking, or blushing.

Charlie told me that he finds it easy to have one-on-one conversations, but that he struggles when speaking in front of a group. He said that he worries about what people will think of him and how he’s coming across. Speaking on camera on social media however gave distance and therefore felt more like a conversation, so a one could imagine there is a blind, or even put up a blind between you and your audience to give the feeling of distance and to help overcome the anxiety of speaking publicly.

If you struggle with public speaking anxiety, know that you’re not alone. It’s a very common fear. But there are things you can do to overcome it. Should you wish to work on your public speaking please reach out I would love to have chat and see how I can help you.
